[News] IU on billboard.com: “She spends fifth weeks at no. 1”

Posted using Mobypicture.com

The “girl diva” IU attracts attention on America’s Billboard chart.

On January 11, America’s internationally recognized music chart, Billboard.com, introduced the “IU fever” through the article titled “Singer IU Spends Fifth Weeks at No.1”

“Teen solo artist IU has started the new year in exactly the same way she closed out 2011: On top of the world and the charts. Her recently released single, “You and I,” has been perched atop the Billboard K- Pop Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks and running,” said the posting with the music video of “You & I” in the attachment.

Billboard.com also focused on IU’s long run in Korea’s music mass media.

It said, “This is quite a feat considering that the highly digital nature of the Korean music market makes for very short stays at the No. 1 spot,” giving a high value to IU’s top ranking.

It also turned its attention to IU’s unique voice and image: “Reminiscent of British born singer- songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae, IU’s angelic voice and cute girl-next-door charm combined with vocal abilities on par with much more experienced artists gives IU a unique appeal that has helped her secure a more age-diverse following.”

Besides IU, the article introduces other singers that have been ranked at the top since K-pop chart was launched in Billboard.com.

Davichi’s “Don’t Say Goodbye,” Huh Gak’s “Hello,” and T-ara’s “Cry Cry,” which spent at the top ranking for three and two weeks, were introduced with their music videos.
